North Island

This is the best coral reef dive we have on offer. Consisting of 5 hard coral pinnacles segregated by small sand channels. The dive usually starts at the small pinnacle at 9m. The dive guide will then take you across a sand channel to the second pinnacle. Here you will find small Whitetip Sharks sleeping on the seabed. If you are extremely patient it is possible to get within a metre of the Sharks and take some great photographs. Also keep an eye open for Stingrays in flight. There are numerous reef fish living around the coral including Starry Pufferfish, Trumpet Fish, Scorpion Fish, Moray Eels, Parrot Fish, Triggerfish, Moorish Idols, Batfish and Angelfish. The dive guide will usually zigzag up the reef face ending at the top in around 5 metres for a safety stop. There is a honeycomb of small caves underneath the coral where you can find Stingrays, Whitetip ans Nurse Sharks. But be careful the caves and overhangs are small so good buoyancy techniques are essential. This site is excellent for all certification levels as it is multilevel reef.
